Bouke Billiet (Gent, 1981) is a writer of fiction. Amongst other works, he has written the acclaimed novel In de naam van TienKamelen ('In the name of TenCamels', 2012). The book was nominated for the literary prize De Bronzen Uil.

Bouke Billiet wrote a citybook about the Indonesian city Semarang, which was translated into English. You can read, hear and download Meisje van vroeger (translated as Palm leaves and promises) for free on deBuren’s website.

Billiet visited the universities of London (UCL), Nottingham and Sheffield to support Dutch students studying and translating his citybook.


His latest novel, Wij waren Trojanen (We were Trojans), was published in May, 2015.
